Being one of those people who shout about of Best of British as often as possible, it’s no surprise that I’m passionate about a brand who cleverly reference the history of British culture, especially when this crosses the boundaries of music and fashion.

One brand who continue to ignite the fire of 60’s and 70’s fashion are Gabicci, who dose their product for SS13 with just a little mod and a clean use of texture, print and colour. My go to piece form this collection would be the pale blue knitted number, which will no doubt come in handy for the unpredictable London weather.

I love this video that they’ve created for the season, which evokes the youth of today, but clearly echos the generations past.

YSC What We’d Wear - Release your inner animal

For all of the times that you’re feeling slightly animalistic but can’t, I say what better way to channel all of that energy than in your clothing, so it’s great to see cult British brand YMC tapping into the trend of leopard, and giving menswear a dose of animal print in the form of simple outerwear.

YSC Brand Watch - MQT SS13 Collection

Albeit cold outside, SS13 menswear collections are already beginning to hit the shelves of online and physical stores, much to the delight of those wishing to ditch the multitude of layers of AW12.

The above in mind, it was a delight to see pastel tones, chino shorts and the humble white shirt make an appearance as part of MQTs new “Summer of Sartorialsim” collection.

The brand have kept it simple this season, but don’t let simple fool you into believing that this means boring. Shades of mint green and burnt orange have been applied to the chino whilst new styles of denim are introduced, alongside clean and classic single breasted jackets.

YSC What We’d Wear - Jigsaw Menswear SS13

David Hockney a famed artist of the 1960’s Pop Art movement, has recently come about as a bit of a fashion muse or style maverick shall we say, as British fashion brand Jigsaw choose to draw influence for their SS13 menswear collection on his style choices.

The new product which begins to hit the stores over the next few weeks, has a simple beauty, much like Baileys artwork. The colour palette is muted, with occasional pops of red and green to inject some movement into the otherwise safe options that any Jigsaw man would be happy to wear.

Hockney has long been an influence beyond the strokes of his brush, with his mop of blonde hair and round spectacles that would often perfectly compliment his love affair with brightly mismatched socks, bowties and the lightweight chino.

Taking a quick peak at the lookbook unearths some standout pieces that go a long way toward helping a man create a capsule wardrobe without the need to spend a fortune. Relaxed trench coats in washed cotton, and linen suits in a black and white check are all easy enough for any man to slip into for the coming spring and summer months.

P.S love the nod to the trademark Hockney striped tie love affair…
