Not content with having the standout show for London Collections Men, Matthew Miller has yet again, put his hand to creating a stellar line of footwear, which perfectly compliments his SS13 ready to wear.

London based shoe company Oliver Sweeney, have returned to the world of Miller, following their AW12 collaboration, and the results for this new offering, are 2 styles which are packed with a Miller Twist, but fused within luxe treatments.
High Gloss Black, White, Grey, and a degrade of the former, are the four simple and minimalist colour ways, which work their way across the two styles, with one pair which allows a welcome return of Millers CCTV wording, that was present on the RTW.

Whilst these aren’t shoes that everyone can wear, you feel compelled to look, touch, and more importantly try on…there are very few tricks with this product, a trainer that rivals Common Projects, classic silhouette, and a shoe which is formal yet playful.

Mr Matthew Miller, for his SS13 presentation at London Collections Men, to put it VERY simply, showed the strongest looks of any other designer brand over the course of the three day schedule.
Whilst this relatively new menswear label, was amongst a sea of notable and credible designers, from the opening of the show, to the close of look 16, the collection showed the talent of one man, who breathes his life and soul into what he produces season after season, and creating with that a legion of avid fans.

Short shorts, sleeveless jackets, denim with bright white knee patches and shirts inscribed with a cut away CCTV message, all took a confident stride down the runway, in a monochromatic colour palette which showed off the collection to maximum effect. Not to forget what Miller does best though, we were given a dose of print, which made an already beautifully cut suit, even more of a show stopper.

Returning for another season, was a shoe collaboration between Miller and Oliver Sweeney, and if possible, these pieces have outdone the current collection, which are due to hit stores in the next few months for AW12.
This was without a doubt, the standout show of the entire LCM proceedings, and we wish that we could type the prediction of “Big Things” for team Miller, but after seeing his SS13 show, it would take a fool to not clearly see the epic rise that he is embarking upon.

Emerging designers have for the past few years, been slowly burning the midnight oil, to ensure that the thirst for new and interesting designs / product is met. This is of course not an easy task, when production lines are small, and teams employed to meet deadlines are even smaller, but there is light at the end of the tunnel when some of the weight is removed from your often young shoulders, and shoe retailer #OliverSweeney come a knocking on your door, to collaborate on a stellar shoe collection for AW12.

Mister #MatthewMiller is one of the insanely talented types, who emerged from the Royal College of Art with a strong understanding of menswear on his mind, and a passion to create product that excites the wearer and their audience.
With Millers vision being played out to a willing audience, the big wigs of Sweeney approached the young designer with ideas of a joint effort, and the results are simply beautiful. Three styles in 12 different finishes, fusing Matthews clever use of technology in fashion, to apply digital / graphic prints to Oliver Sweeneys high grade leather.

Taking inspiration from a journey that Miller made from London to the glamourous shores of Epping, an idea was born for the shoe collection and the rest as they say, is HIStory…
Using the natural elements that he took in on his journey, wood, stone and metal became the base to practical collection. Boots are lined with shearling, and “blake stitch construction” is used to give the Oliver Sweeney x Matthew Miller collaboration all of the credentials required for a sell out collection.
The journey doesn’t end at the point of purchase, as a wearer you are enveloped even further into Millers mind, as you are encouraged to explore the tale, origins and inspiration behind your new pair of shoes.

Produced on our own British Isles, it is great to see brands investing their time and vision in our emerging designers, and Matthew Miller is a name that YSC want to keep on reading about and shopping for, for many years to come!
