YSC AW12 Product Watch - Gabicci The Beat Goes On

Brands that carry heritage, or albeit retro appeal are all the rage in recent years, with many a brand emerging from the shadows that they were cast into, and slowly building themselves back to the days of glory that they once stood at. One brand however that have continued to make consistent ripples in the vintage menswear market, are Brit based brand Gabicci.

Gabicci has since 1973, played a crucial role in clothing Britain’s vibrant youth cultures, who wanted to embrace the slick dress code of Italian men, but inject their threads with the Northern Soul, Ska and Reggae music culture that had swept them up. Focussing on a slim silhouette, with a muted colour palette, Gabicci have always managed to stick to serving up a classic look, which many have responded well to over the years.

As we hit the AW12 season, the brand reach out to their audience with a collection dubbed “The Beat Goes On” which showcases rich shades of mustard, green, burgandy and blues, which have always been seen as the backbone of the brand.

The product is easy to wear, and undeniably retro chic (without the vintage scent!) allowing for the wearer to create their own identity from their choice of great knitwear, slim fitting shirting, and our favourite the duffle coat…with a collection like this, it’s clear to see why artists like Labrinth are showing a more than keen interest.
